John Liddy was born in Youghal, Co. Cork and grew up in Limerick, Ireland. He works as a teacher and librarian in the Insituto Britanica Madrid - Jóvenes. In 1979-1980 he travelled and read widely in the US, conducting writing workshops in many colleges and universities. He has also read and lectured on Irish historical and literary matters in Ireland and Spain.
