If you read fantasy, then you have probably read Robert Jordan's famous series, if not then you should. Jordan divides fans, some believing that his books are nothing original and plagiarised (some of this is definitely highbrowing). I think this extremely unfair on Jordan. It is rare that any fantasy novel is truly original, as most are formulaic, boy grows up on farm, discovers powers, or is heir to the kingdom, etc.. Jordan has however, created a vast and intricate land, with immense detail, and if like me you enjoy a more complex fantasy read then you will enjoy this book. I first read this book when I was 17, and have just reread it, and realised how much I missed the first time round. While Jordan does loose his way little towards the later books, books 1-5 at the very least are fantastic.
