Maireann muid i ré ina bhfuil béim ar an luas is ar an ngontacht agus, dá réir, is cosúil go bhfuil aird agus foighne an duine níos giorra ná riamh agus é nó í ag
tapáil is ag cliceáil as éadan. Ar thóir rud éigin eile… nó an chéad mhír eile…Cá bhfágann sé sin an file is a fhocal mar sin? Cá bhfágann an fhilíocht? Bhí ómós ag an bhfile agus ag an scríbhneoir cruthaitheach riamh don fhocal, don abairt, don chruinneas, don fhírinne. Glactar le focal an fhile.
Níl aon dán sa leabhar seo atá níos faide ná dhá líne dhéag agus tá a bhformhór i bhfad faoina bhun sin. Foilsíodh na dánta seo ar fad cheana i gcnuasaigh de chuid na bhfilí nó i ndíolamaí ar a laghad i gcás dornán filí nár fhoilsigh cnuasach dá gcuid féin.
Dá ghearr gonta é a líon sea is luachmhaire a méid. Bíonn blas ar an mbeagán, a deirtear, agus cé gur dánta gearra iad seo uilig ní beag iad na smaointe atá á n-iompar acu.
We live in an era where there is emphasis put on speed and conciseness, and as such, it is clear that the attention and patience of people is shorter than ever, as they tap and click on the screen. Onto the next thing... and the one after that...Where does that leave the poet and their words? Where does that leave poetry? There was honour once on the poet and the writer, for words, for sentences, for accuracy, for truth. Take heed of the poet's words.
There is no poem in this book that is longer than twelve lines and most are well under that. All of these poems have been published before in collections of the poets or in ditties at least in the case of a handful of poets who have not published a collection of their own.
The shorter and more concise their number, the more valuable their size. It is said that little is more than enough, and although these are all short poems, the thoughts they convey are not small.
