"Are people born wicked or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?" Many years before Dorothy lands in Oz, a little girl with green skin is born. This book tells her story of how she grows up and becomes the notorious Wicked Witch of the West. A gripping, fantastical tale, this novel inspired the Broadway musical of the same name.
Elphaba is one of my favourite fictional characters. Even though you know her fate, because of her idealism, you can't help but root for her. While the book has quite political overtones, I loved it because it is ultimately a tale about friendship.
