You know what's most terrifying to me? It's our ability to endure anything, just to stay alive. New York, 2002. At a photography exhibition, a photograph causes a sensation: it depicts a young Indian girl being displayed for the curious in a sordid Mexican jail.

The old photographer, Ned Giles, remembers the story of this "wild girl." Sierra Madre, 1932. A mountain lion hunter captures a young woman who belongs to one of the last tribes still living in a state of nature. At the same time, the Great Apache Expedition is organized. This motley band of adventurers and wealthy "gentlemen," eager to massacre the Indian, offers to exchange the prisoner for a child kidnapped by the Apaches.

The expedition's photographer, Ned Giles, will brave all dangers to try to protect the young girl.
