These poems were written as bombs fell and lives were lost - a creative response to one of the world's most heartbreaking conflicts.
How did we get here? From the 1917 Balfour Declaration promising Jewish people a homeland in Palestine, to the creation of Israel in 1948 and the displacement of three quarters of a million Palestinians. Today, Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank live in what amounts to open-air prisons, controlled by a heavily armed neighbour backed by Western powers.
The October 7th attack was horrific. But Israle's response - cutting off water, food and power to two million people, bombing hospitals and schools, killing tens of thousands of people - raises uncomfortable questions about how far "self-defence" can go.
This isn't about taking sides. It's about taking responsibility. When our governments support actions that destroy innocent lives, we can't look away. These poems bear witness to suffering that demands our attention - and our conscience.
Raw, unflinching, and deeply human.
