The Golden Age of Dublin

by Trevor White

ISBN: 9781527257726

A new book which celebrates the life and works of James Malton (1761-1803). Written by Trevor White, Director at The Little Museum of Dublin, the book includes foreword by Tony Reddy and introduction by Diarmuid Ó Gráda.

A book launch was held in February 2020 at The Little Museum of Dublin, St Stephen’s Green, where some of Malton’s depictions of Georgian Dublin are now exhibited. Speaking at the launch, Tony Reddy observed that Malton’s views of Dublin in the late eighteenth century record the Irish capital at the time of its transformation from medieval town to Second City of the Empire and feature many of the great civic interventions of that time, with many of these surviving to serve as a backdrop for architects and urbanists working in Dublin today.
